Waterways, e-learning

Our e-learning module Waterways (web course) covers the safety provisions of the hydropower industry and has been developed to fit instructed persons who need to do work in the vicinity of waterways in hydropower stations and water reservoirs, and who need to do work on or in the vicinity of moveable and rotating installation parts.

For those who do maintenance work, for those who do work activities in hydropower stations and power distribution installations. For example workers for clean up, instruments, construction who work in control rooms in electrical installations and hydropower plants.

This course is primarily suited for instructed persons.

This course is developed by Teknikutbildarna and is based on the standard designation SS-EN 50110-1 and the Electrical Safety Instructions.

In order to ensure electrical safety at work Sweden has a very clear framework of laws and provisions. The Electrical Safety provisions (”Elsäkerhetsanvisningar” in Swedish) are supplemental to the law. Waterways is a specific provision by the Swedish hydropower industry focussing on work safety in connection with waterways.

The course targets are to give the required knowledge to be able to plan and execute work such as switches and other operating orders, and be able to apply the Waterways provisions correctly. The overall target is to prevent accidents.

The course ends with a Final Test and the person taking the course can directly after passing this test print out a course certificate.

This online course is the equivalent to Vattenvägar webb in swedish
